When I look back on times in my life when things were particularly hard, what I remember more than anything is feeling so alone, it seemed like no matter how many people were around me, there wasn’t anyone who truly understood and was in my corner. That’s why it’s so important that we are available to be that kind of friend to those in our lives who need us.
When someone you care about is struggling, the best thing you can do is be there for them. Listen without judgement and don’t try to fix their problems or give them advice unless they ask for it. Let them pour out all their feelings and frustrations to you, even if it’s hard to hear. They need someone they can trust with their emotions and experiences, and that’s what a loyal friend is for.
It can also be helpful to provide tangible support, such as bringing them meals or helping with childcare if they are having a hard time. Even just sending cards and small gifts to let them know you’re thinking of them can make all the difference. If you know someone who is really struggling, you need to check in on them regularly to reassure them that they are not alone.
No one should feel like they must go through a difficult time alone. Everyone needs someone who cares and has their back; that’s true friendship!
Here are some words to encourage someone who is down

“You are strong and capable of getting through this tough time.”

Remember to be sincere and genuine when offering words of encouragement to your friend. It’s also important to listen and be there for them, even if you don’t have all the answers. It can be a big help to have someone to talk to and confide in during difficult times.
